CORNING A Community Forum on Prison Reform entitled: Rebuilding Lives and Making Communities Safer with former San Quentin Warden Jeanne Woodford will be held 2-4 p.m. on Sept. 19. The event will be held at First United Methodist Church Social Hall downstairs off South Street. Refreshments will follow. Join members of the community for a discussion about the prison system and the need for reform in order to make communities safer and break the cycle of recidivism. Woodford has extensive experience in Corrections and Rehabilitation. She began her career at San Quentin State Prison in 1978 and was promoted through the ranks and appointed warden of San Quentin State Prison by Gov. Davis in 1999. She remained warden until called upon by Gov. Schwarzenegger in 2004 to serve as the director of the California Department of Corrections. Woodford's mission was to bring reform and rehabilitation to the California Department of Corrections. She was appointed to the position of undersecretary of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the largest correctional system in the United States in July of 2005. Read More. |
