A local street alcoholic has been indicted on second-degree murder charges in connection with the death of another street alcoholic behind the Flagstaff Mall on July 24. Terry Thompson, 33, of Leupp, is accused of murder in the death of Ervin Yazzie, 45, according to the indictment handed down Thursday. Yazzie's body was found in a wooded area near the railroad tracks along Old Route 66 behind JC Penney at the mall. Police have declined to comment on a possible motive in the case. Second-degree murder is a class 1 felony, punishable upon conviction by 10 to 22 years in prison, according to Arizona statute. Both Thompson and Yazzie have multiple arrests and convictions for alcohol-related petty crimes in the city.
