CDCR Improves Website to Instantly Alert the Public When Sex Offenders Remove GPS Tracking Devices
By California Department of Correction and Rehabilitation
Published: 08/18/2010

SACRAMENTO - The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) recently created a web page so that the public can be notified instantly when a sex offender removes his or her Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) ankle monitor for the purposes of evading parole supervision. The site offers several options for the public, including the ability to specify how quickly one would like to be notified of a posting regarding a recently absconded parolee. Beginning today, the public can choose how they want to be notified, instantly, or once-a-day.

For more information on the changes please visit the website for subscription information at: http://www.cdcr.ca.gov/parole/GPS-Wanted-Alerts.html

From the CDCR website, the public has four subscription choices: 1) Daiy email notification; 2) Twitter notification immediately following a posting; 3) Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed, which updates a subscriber automatically when a post has been added; 4) and/or Facebook notification.

The new web page posts the parolee’s name, physical description, picture and last known whereabouts of those registered offenders on parole who have removed their GPS ankle monitor. Alerts will be updated within hours of a sex offender cutting their device and an arrest warrant being issued.

Any thing you/we do to keep people safe from these predators is a blessing that will keep people alive. My mother in her late 60s my daughter at 12 and myself at 12 are only a few of the persons violated by these evil type and I would fight to keep them in prison for life. God be with all of you and any person or child that is violated by these evil evil persons.

Which offenses have criminals who leave prison with ankle monitors have committed? Are these guys sexual offenders including the ones who committed statutory rape or those who peed outside in front of a bar? I need a clarification because if we are talking about sexual predators who have committed rape, should be shot. If we are talking about statutory rape, I don't think these guys should leave prison without ankle monitors, and if we are talking about those people who peed in an outdoor space or streaked a street, should NOT be considered sexual offenders period! Come on people let's demonstrate common sense here ... there are predators, people making stupid choices, and those who are show offs. There is a big difference in the mindset behind people who hunt to violently rape and those who are peeing outside a bar. Different actions and behaviors should be punished appropriately!
