| Neglectful Dad Served Short Prison Term |

A father of 11 who was indicted on criminal charges of second-degree cruelty to children and failure to provide an education has been released from prison, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. Jeremy Lane Long, 39, entered Georgia State Prison in Reidsville, Ga., on July 15, 2009, with a three-year sentence, followed by 10 years on probation, after pleading guilty in June. Burke County law enforcement discovered Long’s children, ages 10 months to 18 years old, in a dilapidated home in the summer of 2008. According to police reports, there was no food or water in the home. None of the children had ever been to school or seen a doctor or dentist.
