Tucson Escapee Found Sleeping Near Road

Tucson, Az.- Escapee Jeffrey Douglas (ADC #58263) was captured Thursday morning after a tip from the public led police to his location.

A woman called the Tucson Police Department at about 7 a.m. to report a man sleeping in an orange and red blanket near Harrison and Speedway. Police and Arizona Department of Corrections criminal investigative officers responded and arrested Douglas.

ADC officers and Tucson police tracked Douglas during the night and he was arrested within a two miles from where he escaped.

Douglas is in ADC custody and will be transferred to the maximum security Browning Unit at Arizona State Prison Complex - Eyman. Douglas walked away from a Tucson work crew just after noon Wednesday.

"I want to praise the efforts of ADC staff and the Tucson Police Department for returning Inmate Douglas to state custody within 20 hours of his escape," ADC Director Charles Ryan said.
