Four Washington County, Tenn. jail inmates have claim in a federal lawsuit they are being denied necessary medical care and ask for $10 million. The civil rights lawsuit was filed last week in federal District Court by inmates David Hartsell, Roger Blaylock Junior, Keith Largent and Jimmy Kinney. They request class-action status. The inmates are suing Sheriff Ed Graybeal, Assistant Deputy Chief Brenda Downes, Dr. Vince Pinyard and registered nurse Pat Hollifield, the medical director for the jail. Judge Thomas Hull dismissed a similar lawsuit filed by Hartsell in July, finding the inmate had failed to exhaust state remedies available to address the complaints alleged. Court documents state Hartsell filed a grievance against the jail's medical staff more than six months ago and has received no response. |
