STOCKTON - State correctional officials will hold a pair of public meetings next week on the proposed renovations of two shuttered prisons southeast of Stockton. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation intends to reopen the Northern California Women's Facility and the DeWitt Nelson Youth Correctional Facility. Meetings about those facilities are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday at the San Joaquin Council of Governments building, 555 E. Weber Ave., Stockton. Plans are to transform the former women's prison into the Northern California Re-entry Facility to house 500 prisoners about to be released to San Joaquin, Calaveras and Amador counties.
