TUCSON - Escapee Jeffrey Douglas, 44, who walked away from an Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) work crew sometime after noon Wednesday in Tucson was captured Thursday morning after a tip from the public led law enforcement to his location still in Tucson. Douglas is serving a 7 1/2 year sentence for auto theft and weapons convictions. He was being housed at the Department of Corrections' Whetstone Unit at the Arizona State Prison Complex. According to DOC spokesman Barrett Marson an unidentified woman called the Tucson Police Department at about 7 a.m. Thursday to report a man sleeping in an orange and red blanket near Harrison and Speedway in Tucson. Marson said police along with Arizona Department of Corrections criminal investigative officers responded and arrested Douglas who is now back in custody. Read More. |
