| Employee Of DOC Sentenced For Niece's Molestation |

SAN JOSE, Calif.—A nearly 17-year veteran of the Santa Clara County Department of Corrections is expected to learn his sentence following his conviction on several child sex crimes involving a niece. Jose Zarate is scheduled to appear Monday in Santa Clara County Superior Court for sentencing on charges including lewd and lascivious acts on a child by force, on a child under 14, violence, duress and fear. Zarate faces up to 30 years in prison. Prosecutor Ray Mendoza says Zarate's minimum sentence would be nine years because he was convicted of a forcible sex crime. Read More. |
