| DUI Offender Gets Jail In Fatal Crash |

CLARKSDALE, Miss. — John H. Lake of Dundee, Miss., has been sentenced to eight years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to the Feb. 14 DUI homicide that claimed the life of a 22-year-old Helena woman and injured two others. Circuit Judge Kenneth Thomas sentenced Lake on Aug. 18 to 20 years with 12 years suspended after he pleaded guilty earlier to DUI Homicide and DUI Maiming in connection with the accident that claimed the life of Jalicia Jones. In a chain reaction accident involving three vehicles on the night of Feb. 14, Lake’s southbound truck collided with another truck driven by Grantham Short of Helena on U.S. Highway 49 near Isle of Capri. Lake’s truck then veered into the path of a northbound 2002 Buick Century causing the car to careen over a guardrail and down into a ravine on the north side of Highway 49. Read More. |
