Two women were jailed Monday night on complaint of harboring a fugitive after they helped a man escape from prison in McAlester and then drove the man to Tulsa, jail records show. Margaret E. Miller, 42, and Diane Tiffany Bowers, 21, were booked into the Tulsa Jail each on a felony count of harboring a fugitive, records show. Oklahoma Department of Corrections officers allege the two women drove to McAlester to pick up Mark D. Smith Jr., 28, who had escaped from Jackie Brannon Correctional Center. Smith is serving five years for 2008 convictions of larceny of an automobile and assault and battery on a police officer in Tulsa County in addition to several former convictions, according to DOC records.
