By the time the FBI caught on to his operation, Lawrence Williams was living well. At least, well for a convicted rapist locked up indefinitely in a state center for violent sexual predators. Williams had a new wife and pen pals receptive to his manipulations. He had state employees smuggling him crack cocaine and heroin, and making him pornographic videos. One -- a nurse hired to care for the men held at the McNeil Island facility -- even acted as his "paramour," having sexual relations with him inside the state-run Special Commitment Center Federal authorities caught wind of Williams' operation in July 2008, receiving a tip that the nurse was smuggling drugs into the facility.
