SHERIFF BELLOTTI LAUNCHES NEWLY REVAMPED WEBSITE FOR NORFOLK COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE DEDHAM, MA, Aug. 26, 2010 – Norfolk County Sheriff Michael G. Bellotti launched a newly updated and easy-to-use website today with the intent of giving the public a better understanding of the day-to-day operations at the Norfolk County Correctional Center and the many public safety programs available to area residents through his office. “We’re excited to have the new site up and running. We hope this will help the public learn about the important work that our officers and staff accomplish here every day,” Sheriff Bellotti said. “We also want everyone to know about the great public safety programs we offer, especially those aimed at helping senior citizens,” he added. The new site – www.norfolksheriff.com – has the same web address as the old Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office site. It is loaded with useful information for families of inmates as well as general info about the diverse initiatives Sheriff Bellotti has introduced, particularly his Repeat Offender Re-entry Initiative aimed at reducing criminal recidivism. The program has been hailed as “a model for the entire state” by the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. Sheriff Bellotti’s innovative Sex Offender Registry alert program is carried over from the old site. The program allows citizens to sign up to receive email alerts whenever a Level 3 sex offender takes up residence or obtains a job in their city or town. Throughout the site, there are easy-to-use links that make it easy to find out more about particular topics. The website also has a “What’s New” section to keep everyone updated on the latest goings-on at the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office. Future additions will provide a detailed look at all that goes into the daily care and custody, feeding, transport and medical care of the approximately 670 inmates at the Norfolk County Correctional Center in Dedham. “We’re proud of the new site and we hope everyone makes extensive use of it. I believe the public should know what goes on at the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office, and this site will help us accomplish that goal,” Sheriff Bellotti said. Norfolk County Sheriff Michael G.
