| DOC investigating second inmate suicide in seven days |

The Connecticut Department of Correction is investigating the apparent suicide of an inmate at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center in Uncasville just one week to the day after a Middletown man committed suicide in the Hartford Correctional Center. At approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday, correctional staff were alerted to an inmate in a cell with a bed sheet tied around his neck. The other end of the sheet was secured to the top bunk bed. According to a press release recounting the incident, correctional and medical staff immediately initiated emergency and life saving measures. The inmate, identified as Timothy Savignac, 27, of Central Village, was taken to Backus Hospital in Norwich where he was pronounced dead at approximately 10 p.m. Read more |
