| Teen Crime Spree Ends With 10 Year Sentence |

STAMFORD -- An 18-year-old city man charged in a variety of high-profile crimes in Stamford -- from the armed robbery of a taxi driver to the theft of several high-powered hunting rifles from a home -- pleaded guilty to several felonies Monday in state Superior Court. Eric Diaz, of Crystal Street, Stamford, agreed to a 10-year prison term, followed by eight years of special probation by pleading guilty. He must serve five years of that sentence as part of a mandatory minimum sentence. Whether he is released before his 10-year bid is up to the state Department of Corrections. "Eric comes from the finest people you could ever meet, and he became mixed up with people not like his family," defense attorney Matthew Maddox said.
