| KS DOC Under Fire For Mistreating Inmate |

The Wichita Branch NAACP says it has filed a complaint against the El Dorado Correctional Facility alleging mistreatment of an inmate. The Kansas Department of Corrections said Tuesday it determined no excessive force was used as officers escorted the inmate to a segregation unit. Kevin Myles, president of Wichita's NAACP, wrote on the organization's blog last weekend that it had filed a civil rights complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice. Bill Miskell, KDOC spokesman, said the incident occurred on July 21. The inmate's family and officials from the NAACP contacted the department about alleged abuse, Miskell said. Read More. |
