| After 20+ Years Free, Sex Offender Caught |

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) – A convicted sex offender on the run for the past 21 years from the state of Vermont has been captured in Jackson. Hinds County sheriff's deputies arrested 45-year-old Timothy John Vanstean at a residence in the 4500 block of Dixie Drive Wednesday morning. Vanstean was convicted of sexually assaulting a child in 1988 and fled Vermont prior to sentencing the following year. The Vermont Department of Corrections contacted Hinds County authorities about the wanted fugitive. Sheriff's deputies were aware of Vanstean because they had recently encountered him during a road block. "Our deputies had contact with this individual a few days ago and had established that he had a Jackson residence and we were able to apprehend him this morning," said Lt. Jeffery Scott. Read More. |
