Mark David Chapman has served 29 years in the shooting death of former Beatle John Lennon. He will meet with the parole board some time this week. Will Mark David Chapman Be Paroled? According to CNN, Chapman's latest bid for parole was postponed from August, and may convene as early as today. When he came up for parole in 2008, it was denied "due to concern for the public safety and welfare." It is quite likely Mark David Chapman will meet the same fate when his case is reviewed yet again. He has spent the past 29 years in Attica, a maximum-security prison. He was sentenced to a term of 20 years to life for the shooting death of John Lennon in front of Lennon's apartment building, The Dakota, in New York City on December 8, 1980.
