| Inmates Victims Of Riot Return To Prison |

Six of seven inmates hospitalized following an Aug. 27 riot at old Folsom State Prison are back at the prison and the seventh continues to recover at an area hospital, according to Lt. Anthony Gentile, a Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokesman. Gentile said the prisoner who remains hospitalized suffered a gunshot wound but is not in critical condition. The riot began in the main exercise yard about 7 p.m. Aug. 27 and lasted about 30 minutes. Corrections officers initially tried to stop the fighting among about 200 inmates with what Gentile described as gas "chemical agents," but eventually used rubber rounds, then rifle fire.
