Action 2 News has learned the state Department of Corrections has yet to track down more than half of the 17,000 missing DNA samples from its offender databank. The backlog was discovered last summer when accused serial killer Walter Ellis's DNA was missing from the state's system, despite the fact he had served in the prison system and should have his DNA on file. The State is making progress, but recovering the remaining 10,000 samples could take years.
