Victim's Family Asks For Life In Prison

WARREN — Frances Wolf’s death at the hands of William Dunlap was in many ways a tragic end of an American Dream.

Born in Poland during World War II, her son said she came to America and built a life for her family. She enjoyed helping others, even William Dunlap, the man who later admitted to beating, stabbing and strangling her to death in the office of Fran’s Roadhouse, the bar she owned on Mound Road, during a robbery in June 2009.

Dunlap, a 45-year-old ex-con labeled as a habitual offender with a criminal history now linking him to four armed robberies, surprised his attorney by pleading guilty to felony murder in the case last month. He was back in Macomb County Circuit Court on Sept. 9 where he listened to the words of Wolf’s children, heard a letter written by her 12-year-old grandson, and stood as Judge Donald Miller ordered him to spend the rest of his life in prison.

“Not only did you take away my mother, you took away my friend, you (expletive) scum,” said an emotional Stan Wolf, the victim’s oldest son.
