WAUPUN — With a little bit of luck, a credible tip and teamwork, officials at Waupun Correctional Institution and the Dodge County Sheriff's Department were able to thwart an apparent escape plan by an inmate on Labor Day weekend. Department of Corrections staff members at the prison notified the Sheriff's Department that they had uncovered a complex escape plan that was hatched by inmate David Larsen. After determining the threat to escape was credible, agencies launched a joint plan to stop the escape while maintaining the security of the prison and protecting public safety.
