Next Page1| 2Previous PageAdvocates are ratcheting up calls to pardon two sisters serving life sentences for their role in a 1993 robbery in Scott County as details of their case spread over the Internet. "It was just a great injustice," said Evelyn Rasco, the mother of Jamie and Gladys Scott. Rasco, 64, has been pushing for her daughters' release for 16 years. But the effort gained steam as dozens of blogs, podcasts, Facebook pages and YouTube videos have adopted the cause over the past few years, she said. "I have picked up so many supporters. We have supporters in Africa and the United Kingdom," Rasco said. "I think by people reading this, it really touches their hearts." Some supporters of the Scott sisters are staging a rally Wednesday in Jackson and plan to march around the state Capitol and the Governor's Mansion. Jackson City Councilman Chokwe Lumumba, one of the rally organizers and a former attorney for the sisters, said their sentence was "unduly severe" and should be reviewed by state officials.
