| WA Killer Execution Took Only Moments |

The state Department of Corrections (DOC) said Tuesday that condemned killer Cal Coburn Brown died approximately three minutes after he was administered a lethal dose of sodium thiopental intravenously. Answering some follow-up questions posed by the reporters who witnessed Friday's execution at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, DOC spokeswoman Belinda Stewart wrote in an email that Brown was brought to the prison's execution chamber from a holding cell at 12:02 a.m. At 12:09 a.m. he was placed on the table, where he made some final remarks before he was administered the fatal injection. During his nearly three-minute statement, Brown told the family of victim Holly Washa that "I understand your feelings and your hatred for me for the actions I took against your daughter and sister.
