Governor Barbour plans to meet with the attorneys representing two Scott county sisters who are serving life for stealing a few bucks.

Earlier today, the national president of the NAACP was in Jackson calling on the governor to pardon the women.

Benjamin Jealous had hoped to deliver a box containing almost 2,000 letters to the governor in person, but capitol police at the Sillers office building didn’t let him get that far.

They took the petitions for release and passed them on to the governor’s office.

In 1994 Gladys and Jamie Scott were each sentenced to double life sentences for stealing $11 in an armed robbery.
