State Prison Grounds To House Paroled Herzog

Loren Herzog, 44, initially convicted of three first-degree murders and implicated in several others, will be paroled Saturday to a modular home being built for him on the grounds of High Desert State Prison near Susanville.

He will not be released to the Lassen County town of Doyle, said Assemblyman Dan Logue, whose 3rd District includes Lassen County.

Putting Herzog on state property, where he will be under constant surveillance, is the best place for him in Lassen County, said Logue, but he is working closely with California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to move Herzog out of the state.

Logue has asked Gov. Schwarzenegger to intervene in the process, which requires an agreement with an out-of-state correctional department.
