YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima County authorities say they will change procedures after a man accused of second-degree murder was mistakenly released Friday when jail staff misread court paperwork. The accused, Alexander Quintana, was free all weekend on a bail reduction meant for a material witness in his murder case. Quintana, accused of shooting a man to death during a drug deal in December at a Yakima residence, was back in custody Monday morning when he was re-arrested at the community corrections office on North Second Street, north of the county courthouse. Quintana was being held on $500,000 bail, but the confusion over the paperwork allowed him to be released after bond was posted on a bail of $10,000. Read More. |
