| Inmate Kills Parent Killer In Jail |

PUNTA GORDA — A Fountain man convicted of killing his parents in 2008 has died following an altercation with another inmate in a South Florida prison. Department of Corrections spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger confirmed that Ricky Morris, 28, died as a result of injuries sustained during an altercation last month with Leo Boatman. Plessinger declined to release details because an investigation into Morris’ death is ongoing. Morris pleaded guilty to shooting his parents, Raymond and Deborah Morris, in the bedroom of their Fountain home in February 2008, then calling the police and waiting on the phone until an officer arrived to arrest him. Morris received a life sentence. Boatman, 24, is serving a life sentence for the murder of two college students in 2006 in the Ocala National Forest. Boatman and Morris were cellmates at Charlotte Correctional Institution in Punta Gorda, according to Jeff Morris, Ricky’s uncle. Read More. |
