| MS Victim Notification Gets Federal Financing |

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Justice has approved a grant for the Mississippi Department of Corrections to continue its enhancement of a statewide victim notification system. The $492,000 funding comes from the FY2010 Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification program. Mississippi will use the grant to add a photograph of offenders included in its VINE Link public web portal that offers protective order notifications to victims. Officials say the grant will help overcome challenges faced by victims who cannot positively identify an offender when searching the public web portal for updated information on the status of an offender.
