Residents of Susanville and Lassen County delivered that message loud and clear during an emotional two-hour meeting of the Lassen County Board of Supervisors Tuesday, Sept. 14. In the end, the board formally objected to Loren Herzog being paroled anywhere, in any fashion, in Lassen County. The board also directed its deputy county counsel to pursue a writ of mandamus and possibly seek a temporary injunction to restrain Herzog from being released in Lassen County. News of the release of one of the infamous “Speed Freak Killers” in Lassen County broke quietly Friday afternoon, when the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation announced its decision to release Herzog here without any advance notice.
