| Closing Sex Offender Rehab Raises Questions |

CONCORD – The six-month program for sex offenders at the state prison is being eliminated as the Department of Corrections refocuses its treatment services outside the walls of the prison. Kimberly Marsh, director of Sexual Offender Treatment Services at the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, sent notices to prosecutors and others this week outlining the changes. The 18-month program for sexual offenders will continue within the walls of the prison, but the short-term program is out as of this week, members of the state's Adult Parole Board were also told yesterday. "Individuals who are currently assessed for (the) Cognitive Behavioral Group will have their recommendations changed to 'community treatment,'" Marsh wrote. "Our assessment process will remain the same, and any individual who would be appropriate for cognitive behavioral treatment will still be required to successfully complete a polygraph exam in order to then be eligible for community treatment. We will continue to use the same rigorous guidelines and assessment to determine the appropriate forms of treatment for individuals." Read More. |
