Man Returning To VT To Face 21 Year Old Charges

BRATTLEBORO — A former Bellows Falls man convicted of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl in 1989 is returning to Vermont to face charges.

An official with the Vermont Department of Corrections says 45-year-old Timothy J. VanStean waived extradition in Mississippi where he was arrested last month after he was stopped at a DUI checkpoint and didn't have a driver's license.

The Rutland Herald says VanStean left Vermont in 1989 as he was about to be sentenced to 90 days in jail as part of a three- to five-year sentence for sexually assaulting his then-girlfriend's daughter.
