PERRY TWP. — A man convicted of robbery in Pennsylvania was killed in a single-car crash while fleeing from township police Monday morning. Lepear L. Toles, 30, was declared dead at the scene after his 2008 Ford Fusion struck a utility pole, sheared a fire hydrant and rammed into a parked vehicle just north of Tuscarawas Street W on Perry Drive NW at about 5:20 a.m. Monday. Toles and a woman passenger reportedly fled from officers after a 35-year-old man called police to his home in the 5300 block of Perry Hills Drive SW, saying there were two unwelcome people in the home. “The victim said he did not want the subjects there, and upon later speaking with him, we learned that the individuals held him against his will,” said township Police Chief Michael Pomesky.
