APACHE COUNTY - Jeremy Adams was sentenced to the Department of Corrections for a term of 15 years in connection with the June 2009 stabbing of his pregnant girlfriend. Originally charged with two counts of attempted murder in the second degree, two counts of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct, Adams accepted a plea agreement and pled guilty to attempted murder, a class 2 felony. Adams was facing a minimum of seven years to a maximum of 21 years. Judge Grimsley said her sentencing was due in part to Adams' prior felonies, domestic violence offenses, the harm to the victim, and the fact that the defendant was not amenable to probation. The judge did find that there were mitigating factors including the remorse of Adams and that he accepted responsibility for his actions.
