| NY Inmate's Death Under Investigation |

DANNEMORA — Officials are investigating the death of an inmate at the Clinton Correctional Facility. The inmate, Leonard Strickland, 44, allegedly assaulted a correction officer at about 9:10 a.m. Sunday and was subsequently "subdued and restrained" with the assistance of additional correction officers, according to a press release from New York State Police. Strickland became unresponsive a short time later, according to the release, and was transported to CVPH Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:45 a.m. Clinton County Coroner David F. Donah ordered an autopsy that was performed Monday at CVPH. The cause and manner of death are pending histology and toxicology tests, which could take up to 2½ weeks. Read More. |
