A Hamilton Superior Court judge is expected to rule Thursday on whether to accept the guilty plea provided last month by Marcus Schrenker, the former money manager who admitted he defrauded Indiana investors in financial schemes. The 1989 Merrillville High School graduate captured national attention for bailing out of his plane before it crashed in Florida and attempting to fake his death to avoid prosecution in January 2009. In the plea deal, prosecutors agreed to drop six of the charges facing Schrenker, but he would serve 10 years in prison and pay more than $630,000 in restitution to victims. Questions still to be answered are where and how much time will Schrenker serve in a state correctional facility, whether he and his wife Michelle will be granted a divorce and how soon investors will recoup their money lost to schemes.
