| Hiding Escapee Not Arrested |

ATHENS — Sheriff Mike Blakely said an Elkmont man who hid in a ceiling to escape arrest has received a get-out-of-jail-free card. On Sunday at 1:24 p.m., the Sheriff’s Department received a call about a dog being shot in the 15000 block of Dupree Road. When deputies arrived to investigate and ran background checks, they discovered that a male whom witnesses said had been at the house was wanted as an escapee. Blakely said a warrant on file indicated Christopher Daniel Draper, 25, of Tillman Mill Road was wanted for escape by the Department of Corrections. Two people at the home claimed Draper was not there, Blakely said. The man and woman gave deputies consent to search the house. “They found Draper hidden in the ceiling,” Blakely said. Deputies took him into custody on the escape warrant and charged the man and woman with hindering the apprehension of an escapee. Read More. |
