| Man Arrested For Hit And Run At Walmart |

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS -An SUV hit a woman in a wheelchair in the Walmart parking lot in DeFuniak Springs Friday, leading police to arrest a man who was a wanted fugutive. After the SUV struck the woman, the driver fled into the Walmart store and escaped on foot, according to a release from the DeFuniak Springs Police Department. Witnesses provided physical descriptions of the man, and video surveillance footage was obtained from the store. Officers were able to determine that the driver Christopher Williams, 53, who was wanted on numerous felony warrants and was listed by the State Department of Corrections as an absconder/fugitive. Williams also reportedly has 10 felony convictions and was released by the Department of Corrections into Community Control Probation on April 28, 2009. Detectives with the DeFuniak Springs Police Department were able to track Williams to an address in Laurel Hill, the release said. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and immediately responded to the area, where deputies located and arrested Williams. Read More. |
