| Small Case Load Closing NM Parole Office |

A lower caseload and fewer offenders over the past five years has led the New Mexico Department of Corrections to downsize the probation and parole office in Tucumcari, the Quay County Sun reported. "The lower caseload in Tucumcari does not require a fully staffed probation and parole office," Corrections Department spokeswoman Tia Bland said in a statement to the Sun. Bland said the department will advertise for one full-time probation and parole officer to live in Tucumcari and work out of an office in the Tucumcari Police Department or the Quay County Courthouse, the Sun said.
