TRENTON -- A driver whose lane change touched off a deadly head-on collision in March 2007 that killed a Ewing teacher yesterday testified that she checked her rear and side mirrors and looked over her shoulder to make sure it was safe to change lanes. Driver Martha Hicks, testifying in the vehicular homicide trial of Ivan Rodriguez, said the left lane of busy Olden Avenue was clear when she pulled her Ford Bronco into it, but then Rodriguez's car zoomed up behind her at a high rate of speed. "I thought we were going to get hit," said Hicks, a Department of Corrections employee. "Next thing you know, there was a big impact, a big bang, and my truck shook." Read More. |
