Correctional Communications, LP (CCLP) provides controlled digital satellite television service at an economical cost. CCLP provides, installs, and maintains all equipment at no charge to the facility and includes a dedicated channel for your use as an in-house newspaper or for live presentations. "We are a private cable company providing controlled access television to correctional facilities, but that's just the beginning. We contract with states to provide Betterment Programming as a totally cost effective solution to their education/betterment criteria. This is because, before 911, facilities would bring in counselors to deal with the issues we cover - but now that we have cutback in funding, it makes sense to provide the training to many facilities simultaneously through our live broadcasts," said Ron Schaeffer, Vice President of CCLP. Schaeffer further explains "we do our programs in real time, live broadcasts from our studio located at the Southern Nevada Women's Correctional Facility." According to CCLP, re-entry programming is a hot topic these days and helps to cut instances of recidivism. "Our instructors all have Masters in Education and we train inmates to do graphics or to run the learning, if you will. Facilities can opt for specific programs such as anger management, spousal abuse, and drug programs - including alcoholism - to be integrated with the regular programming. Our re-entry programs are unique and many states have made our Betterment Program a mandatory condition of release," Schaeffer said. The CCLP curriculum features topics like victim awareness, values clarification, goal setting, emotional control, pre-employment and many more. ESL is available and facilitator guides and inmate workbooks are also provided.
