Three St. Louis corrections officers have pleaded guilty to charges of distributing crack cocaine to jail inmates, U.S. Attorney James Martin said last Thursday. All three were indicted by a federal grand jury in April. The men worked at the St. Louis City Medium Security Institution, where they tried to deliver the illegal drugs between August and December to inmates in exchange for cash. Sheldon Dorsey, 25, Vernard Thomas, 43, and Anthony Griffin, 44, each pleaded guilty to one felony count of attempt to distribute a controlled substance. All three face up to 20 years in prison. Sentencing for Griffin and Thomas will be Sept. 10. Sentencing for Dorsey will be Sept. 24. |
