Charges Filed Against Man For Fatal Fire

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on murder and arson charges related to a fatal Spokane Valley fire.

The Spokesman-Review reports Ryan D. Corkery was arrested on Wednesday at a motel in Spokane Valley. Detectives had contacted him after William Frazier Hanel was found dead in his home near the Hangman Valley Golf Court on Tuesday.

The Spokane County Sheriff's office says detectives believe Corkery was driving Hanel's Jeep. The Sheriff's office says Corkery also was wanted on an escape warrant from the state Department of Corrections.
