Arrested and charged Tuesday with soliciting bribes from subordinates, Lydell B. Sherrer, a Department of Corrections assistant director, has been suspended from his job with pay pending a disciplinary hearing, officials said yesterday. He is free on $100,000 bail. The department’s leadership, which was told of the investigation late Tuesday morning after Sherrer’s arrest, hasn’t launched its own internal probe of Sherrer or broader employee wrongdoing yet, said spokesman Matt Schuman. “We have a Special Investigations Division,” he said. “If the department decides to go that way, we have a vehicle to do that.” Read More. |
