The old Work Release Center in Davenport is an old motel that was renovated by the Department of Corrections. Security is good in that building, but when residents move just a few feet away into a new center, security will be stricter. "The facility is built as a secure building as opposed to the building we're currently in," says Randy Schafer, Residential Manager of the 7th Judicial District. To monitor the 84 residents, cameras are everywhere. "If we want to see both of the dining rooms at the same time and the upper TV lounge at the same time, we'll be able to do that.
