| MN Jails May Be Short Staffed |

Moose Lake, MN (Northlands NewsCenter)- AFSCME leaders say they feel if a serious incident, like the prison riots at Stillwater this May, were to happen in Moose Lake they would not have the staff levels to react. AFSCME 3887 vice president Keith Benning said in a written statement, "We often run with the bare minimum of staff to do our jobs, but on a bad day that might not be enough," Moose Lake prison houses 1,000 offenders and has 206 correctional officers. They actually have 5 vacancies they're currently trying to fill, according to Department of Corrections spokesperson Shari Burt.
