California prison officials have launched an online service that allows inmates to be located by plugging their names or other information into a website that will pinpoint what prison they are in, as well as visitation and other rules for each facility. The website, http://inmatelocator.cdcr.ca.gov, is designed to help family of friends of inmates determine where they are being held in various prisons throughout the state. Individuals can go to the site and enter an inmate's name or California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation inmate number to find out where the person they are searching for is being held.
