The privately operated state prison in Kingman has 583 fewer prisoners in custody today than at the time of the July 30 escape of three dangerous convicts, according to Arizona Department of Corrections officials. The Oct. 12 inmate count sheet for the Management and Training Co. facility, based in Kingman, showed the facility currently has 1,054 medium-custody prisoners and 1,716 minimum-custody prisoners. In all, there are 2,770 inmates currently in custody. By comparison, the July 30 inmate count sheet showed 1,507 medium-custody prisoners and 1,846 minimum-custody prisoners. In all, there were 3,353 at the time of the prison break. Overall, 230 medium-custody prisoners have been moved from the facility since the incident, said ADC spokesman Barrett Marson. Read More. |
