Arizona authorities have arrested a man in connection with the 1982 murder and sexual assault of a Phoenix woman. Ralph Cruz, 51, was arrested Thursday by the Department of Corrections in Tucson and brought to Phoenix in connection with the murder of Debra Limratana. Cruz was already serving a 10-year sentence in a Tucson prison for a 2006 aggravated assault charge when a cold-case investigation into Limratana's death turned up DNA evidence connecting Cruz to the crime, according to a news release issued Wednesday from the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. Limratana's body was found in a canal in the 3300 block of Lower Buckeye Road on March 27, 1982. Her body was naked except for four rings and a necklace. She had been strangled and dumped in the canal for at least a day before passers-by noticed her body and called authorities. Read More. |
