| CA Cracks Down With Almost 40 Arrests |

MORONGO BASIN — Operation Desert Heat Saturday and Sunday found law men and women moving through the streets of the Morongo Basin in an effort to suppress criminal activity. Sheriff’s Det. Tyson Niles reports Operation Desert Heat lasted nine hours, from 6 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Monday, and resulted in 38 arrests. Charges include being under the influence, driving under the influence, drug possession, obstruction of a law enforcement official, failure to yield during an attempted traffic stop and outstanding warrants. “The goal of this operation is to send a message to offenders that criminal activity will not be tolerated in the high desert,” Niles stated via e-mail.
